What did you do this past week?

Last week I finished up the Collatz project. It ended up taking much longer than I anticipated, but finishing it up was very satisfying. Overall, I really liked the experience of going through the typical workflow when working on a project. Last week, I was also able to step outside for a bit to experience the somewhat-rare cold weather in Texas. Though, I made sure to not stay outside too long because it is quite literally freezing.

What’s in your way?

I am still trying to get back to the mindset I ended with last semester. It might take some time, but I will soon get there. Once I do, I will be more productive and more conscious about time management.

What will you do next week?

Next week I hope to start on the new project for this class. I am very excited about it. I have some basic experience with creating websites and using APIs, so I hope to learn even more about the process and to build a website that serves a good purpose.

If you read it, what did you think of the Pair Programming?

I had read the paper on Pair Programming when I took OS. I enjoyed the parallel connections from the poem about kindergarten. I believe pair programming is extremely powerful when done correctly.

What was your experience of types? (this question will vary, week to week)

I thought the lecture on types was helpful. I am a bit inexperienced with python, and prior to the lecture, I was only aware of the list type. Knowing that there is a built in set, and dictionary in python will be useful when writing code in python in the future.

What made you happy this week?

I was able to complete all of my work for my classes early this week. That always puts me in a good mood.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

There is a funny and cool website I recently discovered that shows a map of McDonalds locations and whether or not their ice cream machine is working. The data is pulled directly from the McDonalds location, as the status of every location’s ice cream machine is public when using the app.

Here is the website: https://mcbroken.com/
